The third edition of Futures Forum was held in its new home, The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, on Friday 3 March 2023.
The one-day discussion and networking event was chalked full of immersive workshops and mentoring opportunities and had more than 40 speakers across an array of informative panels. All ILMC delegates were invited to take part in the day’s lineup of events, which brought together the current industry leaders with the emerging stars driving its evolution.
Meet the New Bosses: Class of 2023 saw some of IQ Magazine’s New Bosses outline their vision for the future of the music business, while Live After TikTok panellists discussed how to strike a balance between capitalising on virality and cultivating longevity.
On The Young Entrepreneur, panellists discussed what’s motivating the next generation of business owners, while Now That’s What I Call 2023 saw participants discuss the emerging artists set to dominate 2023.
True Sustainability investigated how to balance the environmental, economic and social in order to ensure the longevity of the industry, while OK, Boomer: Closing the Generation Gap, Part II reignited discussions about new ways of working from both sides of the generation gap.
And if that wasn’t enough, two sets of Soapbox Sessions packed full of informative yet brief presentations took place. Grassroots Music Venues: The Heart of Culture and Community outlined how grassroots venues are essential to the music industry ecosystem, while the challenges, triumphs, strategies and collaborations involved in promoting Ed Sheeran’s + – = ÷ x (Mathematics) tour were broken down during The A Team: Promoting Ed Sheeran’s blockbuster UK tour.

To close the day, renowned agent Marty Diamond told stories of Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Barack Obama during the 2023 keynote discussion, led by BBC Radio 1’s Abbie McCarthy.
The day was complimented by refreshments and a five-star lunch — which included vegetarian and vegan options — and admission to the Access All Areas programme, making Futures Forum one of the most fulfilling events on an emerging executive’s calendar.
