Jodi Milstein is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a successful private psychotherapy practice in Los Angeles, California. Jodi is also the Founder and Owner of RockStarTherapy, a division of her practice focused on helping musicians and artists improve band dynamics as well as their professional and personal relationships. She has extensive professional experience in addiction, substance abuse, eating disorders, relationship issues, life transitions, conflict resolution as well as working with creative individuals in many areas of the entertainment industry.
Jodi has unique insight into the complex issues creative individuals encounter, especially those in the music industry. Although she has spent nearly two decades practicing as a psychotherapist, the first 15 years of Jodi’s professional life were in the music industry. Jodi worked directly with musicians, artists, bands, managers, agents, and producers at A&M Records and music management companies. She spent a great deal of time on the road touring with artists as well as in recording studios during recording sessions. Musicians and the teams around them live very different lives than the typical working professional. Long months spent away from family and friends while isolated in touring vehicles and dark recording studios can take their toll. Jodi witnessed firsthand musicians struggling in their professional and personal lives due to mental health challenges, substance abuse, relationship issues, and communication difficulties. That exposure gave Jodi firsthand understanding of the rewards, challenges, and demands musicians and their families face. Jodi’s specialty is combining her music industry knowledge and experience along with her expertise as a therapist to help musicians incorporate self-care in their lives, address mental health needs, and work on healthier communication while enabling them to maintain their creative edge.
